Between Saturday, January 21 and 22, 2012 New York City subway stations saw the deaths of four individuals, as reported by Manhattan subway accident attorney Jonathan C Reiter. All four deaths, which were unrelated, happened within 24 hours of each other.

New York City Police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said all four deaths Saturday are under investigation. MTA spokeswoman Deidre Parker explained, “As far as we know, there is no connection between these unfortunate incidents. They are under investigation by NYPD.”

The series of accidents began at approximately 2:01 am Saturday, in Queens, states Manhattan subway accident attorney Jonathan C Reiter. According to reports, an agent at the R train station at Elmhurst Avenue and Broadway called police to report an unconscious man lying in a stairwell. The man, who police believe fell down the stairs, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At approximately 8:25 am Saturday morning, police found and identified Brian O’Mara, of Garden City, on the tracks of the Brooklyn-bound L train, between Third Avenue and Union Square, explains New York City wrongful death lawyer Jonathan C Reiter. Police reported the man, who had been struck by the subway while wandering down the tracks, had been out drinking with friends, who later realized he did not join them in the taxi at the end of their evening.

Manhattan subway accident attorney Reiter continues, police were then called to the Nostrand Avenue A train station shortly after 4 pm. An operator noticed a body in the subway tunnel about 60 feet from the platform on the southbound track. Police believe several trains struck this individual before anyone noticed. New York City wrongful death attorney Jonathan C Reiter explains an autopsy was performed, but more tests were pending.

And at approximately 8:10 pm, Saturday evening, police responded to another call from the Sixth Avenue L train station where a Manhattan-bound train struck a man on the tracks as he tried to climb on the platform.

New York City wrongful death attorney Jonathan C Reiter explains each death is being investigated separately and there seems to be no relation between the series of incidents.
