Worker Crushed to Death in Salt Lake City Industrial Accident

Salt Lake City, UT — An industrial accident killed a 34-year-old man Friday, March 23, 2012, when he became trapped under a piece of machinery at an industrial site. The fatal workplace accident occurred at the Cambelt International facility on 2820 West Directors Row (1100 South), reported ABC4. Com.

Ionke Langi, 34, was killed when a piece of machinery he was working on collapsed and crushed his torso.

Responding emergency crews pronounced Langi dead at the scene.

Officials reported that it is unknown why the machinery moved while Langi was underneath it.

The machinery involved in the accident is used to mold rubber pieces together to create conveyor belts. The facility is a manufacturer of conveyor belts and conveyor systems.

Salt Lake City and officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the fatal industrial accident.
