Dakota City, NE — A Tyson Foods employee was fatally injured in an accident at the company’s beef slaughter and processing plant in Dakota City early Thursday morning, March 15, 2012. The fatal industrial accident occurred just after midnight while the man was working on a piece of equipment, Sioux City Journal reports.
The Tyson Foods maintenance worker was reportedly working on a piece of equipment when the accident occurred. The details and circumstances of the accident have not been released.
The plant was not in operation when the accident occurred.
The man was rushed to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The identity of the fatally injured Tyson employee has not been released at this time.
Tyson’s safety and operations management staff are investigating the industrial accident, along with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Tyson is cooperating with all investigations.
