South Side Crash Injures 2 Chicago Police Officers

Chicago, IL — A vehicle accident injured two Chicago police officers Wednesday night, March 7, 2012. The automobile accident occurred around 10:37 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Halstead Street on the South Side, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

According to reports, two police officers were riding in a squad car while responding to an emergency call when they were involved in a crash with a Chrysler 300.

The Chrysler reportedly failed to yield to police at an intersection, where it slammed into the rear of the police car. The Chrysler then crashed into a parked vehicle.

Responding emergency crews transported both police officers in unknown condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The identities of the injured police officers are being withheld at this time.

No other injuries were reported.

As of 3 a.m. Thursday no citations have been issued.

The Major Accidents Investigations Unit is looking into the crash.
