Sac City, IA — A tree trimming accident in Sac County killed a Lake View man Monday, March 5, 2012. The fatal accident occurred around 10:26 a.m., about a mile and half south of Nemaha, in western Iowa, reported the Sioux City Journal.
According to Sac County Sheriff’s officials, Edward Paul Peters, 63, of Lake View, was trimming trees when he was electrocuted. Peters was reportedly leaning on a boom truck, while a worker was in a bucket on the truck cutting branches, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The 50-foot boom apparently came into contact with an overhead power line, which allowed the electricity to travel through the truck and electrocute Peters.
Peters was rushed by ambulance to Loring Hospital in Sac City, where he was pronounced dead.
The worker in the bucket was not injured.
Peters owns Peters Painting and Tree Trimming.
Investigations into the work-related accident are underway.
