Christmas, FL — A school bus accident sent five children to the hospital Thursday morning, March 22, 2012, when a car rear-ended the bus around 9:05 a.m. on Colonial Drive in Christmas, ClickOrlando.com reported.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Jonathan Wilson, 45, of Titusville was traveling behind the bus on westbound Colonial Drive, near West Christmas Road when he spilled his drink on himself. When Wilson reached down to access the glove box for some napkins, and didn’t realize the bus was slowing down to pick up some students. Wilson’s Dodge Challenger subsequently rear-ended the school bus.
The collision left five Corner Lake Middle School students with minor injuries. Responding emergency crews transported the injured students to Florida Hospital East for medical treatment. They are expected to be OK.
The bus driver, a 61-year-old Geneva man was not injured, but Wilson sustained minor injures.
Wilson was issued a citation for the wreck.
