Landover, MD — A speeding BMW crashed into a Landover Kentucky Fried Chicken Monday night, February 20, 2012, killing one person and injuring four others. The fatal automobile accident occurred at a KFC located at 6701 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, reported MSNBC.
A BMW was estimated to be going 100 mph down Martin Luther King Jr. Highway when it hit a curb and went airborne, and began flipping. The vehicle hit a sign, a fence, a large metal donation box and an SUV parked in the restaurant’s parking lot, before coming to a stop.
The crash scene was over 100 yards long, according to police.
The driver of the parked SUV was not injured in the wreck.
The driver of the BMW, a 29-year-old female, was ejected and killed in the crash. A male passenger in the BMW was injured, but not seriously.
Two others at the scene suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The KFC sustained structural damage in the crash, which caused the restaurant’s windows to shatter and a collapse unit to be dispatched to stabilize the building.
Investigations are underway.
