TX Girl, 5, Killed in Accidental Hanging at Wichita Falls-Area Apartment Complex

Wichita Falls, TX — An accident at a Wichita Falls apartment complex left a 5-year-old girl dead, after she was found hanging from a rope by her neck. The apparent accidental hanging occurred around 3 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Highpoint Village Apartments, reported KCENTV.com.

According to reports, the little girl had been playing with a jump rope on the playground equipment when she became entangled in the rope.

Responding emergency crews found the girl hanging by the rope and immediately cut her down. She was rushed to the hospital, where resuscitation attempts proved unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.

The victim was reportedly a frequent visitor to the playground and was playing with another child at the time of the accident.

Police do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Investigations are underway.
