Pike County School Bus Rollover Accident Injured 41

Pike County, AL — A school bus overturned in Pike County Friday morning, January 20, 2012, in a single-vehicle crash that injured 41 students. The school bus accident occurred at the intersection of County Road 2243 and County Road 2246, just few miles from Goshen Elementary School at 7:15 a.m., reported WSFA.com.

According to officials, the school bus had 41 people on board when the bus wrecked and made a three-quarter roll onto the driver’s side.

Responding emergency crews rushed 21 students by ambulance to Troy Regional Medical Center, while seven others were taken to Crenshaw Community Hospital in Luverne. Thirteen others were also taken to hospitals by another bus for medical treatment.

All the injuries are said to be minor, with the most serious injury involving a broken arm. Cuts and scrapes are reportedly among the injuries sustained by the students.

The cause of the crash is under investigation at this time.

The bus was transporting students to Goshen Elementary and Goshen High schools when the accident occurred.

The Alabama State Troopers and the Alabama Department of Public Safety are investigating.
