Taunton, MA — An apparent industrial accident at Tribe Mediterranean Foods Plant Friday morning, December 16, 2011, killed a Fall River Man when his arm became caught in a grinding machine. The fatal workplace accident occurred around 1 a.m. in Myles Standish Industrial Park in Taunton, reports The Herald News.
Daniel Callazo, 28, of Fall River was reportedly cleaning a grinding machine when his arm became caught in the machinery.
Responding emergency crews pronounced Callazo dead at the scene, and his body was transported to Morton Hospital.
It is unknown at this time what caused Callazo’s arm to become caught in the machinery.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s office says the death doesn’t appear to be suspicious, but investigations are ongoing.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and local authorities are investigating the fatal workplace accident.
Tribe released a statement regarding the death, which read: “Foremost we are terribly saddened by this morning’s incident, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the individual’s family at this difficult time”…”We have been working closely with OSHA and local authorities who have been looking into all details surrounding this matter.”
