Louisville, KY — An industrial accident at a Cintas plant left a worker dead Friday morning, October 28, 2011. The fatal workplace accident took place at the Cintas plant off Preston Highway and Oaklawn Drive in the Okolona area at about 4 a.m., reported WLKY.com.
Details surrounding the accident are limited while investigations are ongoing.
The deceased worker was identified as Kevin Burgess, 55, of Louisville.
Burgess was apparently servicing an industrial dryer when he fell in and sustained fatal injuries. Cintas reported that Burgess came in early to get the equipment up and running before the other workers arrived at the plant.
Burgess wasn’t found until another early worker came in sometime later.
The plant has since been partially shut down while investigations take place.
No foul play is suspected, and it appears to be an industrial accident.
Blunt force injuries led to his death, the coroner reported.
WLKY reported that Cintas released a statement on Friday that read, “Cintas is devastated to have learned about the accident that took the life of one of our employee-partners at our uniform rental facility in Louisville overnight. Our deepest heartfelt sympathy is extended to his family. The safety and security of our employee-partners is a priority at Cintas and we are shaken by this news. The company remains focused on providing support to the family and his co-workers at the facility. A thorough investigation has begun to determine the cause of this accident.”
Investigations are underway and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to arrive at the scene.
