5-year-old Critically Injured After Being Hit by Shuttle Bus in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA — A pedestrian accident left a 5-year-old boy with cirtical injuries after being hit by a shuttle bus in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood. The bus accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the intersection of 3rd Street and Williams Avenue, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.

According to San Francisco police, the young boy was walking southbound on 3rd Street with a woman and another child when the private shuttle bus hit the boy.

The bus was reportedly making a right turn from eastbound Williams onto southbound 3rd, when the accident occurred.

The woman and the other child made it across the street safely, but the boy was trailing being them when he was hit.

Responding EMTs rushed the boy to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the shuttle bus remained at the scene and is reportedly cooperating with investigations.

No arrests or citations have been issued at this time.

The passenger on the shuttle bus was not injured.
