Washington, D.C. — Our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., is now known for something else—the most likeliest place to get in a traffic accident, according to Allstate’s Annual Best Drivers Report, USA Today reported.
For the second straight year, Washington D.C. has topped the list, followed by Baltimore, and Glendale, California—a suburb of Los Angeles.
According to the report, D.C. has double the national average for traffic accidents, which is determined by the amount of insurance claims filed in that area. The report also revealed that D.C. drivers are involved in accidents on average every 4.8 years.
Washington D.C. wasn’t the only one who received poor rankings, several cites saw an increase in traffic accident occurrences: Tampa fell 22 places to 176th. While Bridgeport, Conn., and Torrance, Calif., both fell 15 places.
But, other cities across the U.S. saw a drop in their accident rankings. Tempe, Ariz., improved by 27 places and Laredo, Texas, was up 29; Jackson, Miss., also was up 92 places—for the biggest improvement.
