Aspen, CO — A two-vehicle collision has taken the life of a philanthropic Dallas billionaire, Charles Wyly, on Sunday, August 7, 2011. The fatal car accident occurred on State Highway 82 near Aspen at around 11 a.m., reported the Aspen Times.

According to the State Patrol, Wyly, 77, was driving a Porsche Targa while making a left turn onto Highway 82 from Airport road when a Ford Freestyle SUV, driven by Genezi Lacereda, 40, of Snowmass Village, hit Wyly’s vehicle. The SUV struck the driver’s side door of Wyly’s luxury vehicle.

Responding emergency crews rushed Wyly to Aspen Valley Hospital, where doctors pronounced his dead just after noon.

Lacereda also sustained “moderate injuries” in the wreck. It was not reported if she too was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

The State Patrol revealed that neither driver was wearing their seat belt at the time of the wreck. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the fatal car accident.

Investigations into the deadly car accident are underway.
