Chicago, IL — A multiple-vehicle crash involving a CTA bus hospitalized 9 people, including a child who was seriously injured, on Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the Northwest Side’s Kelvyn Park neighborhood. The crash occurred just before 11 a.m. at Cicero and Diversey avenues, reported the Chicago Tribune.

According to police, a teenage girl, who was upset over a boy, stole her brother’s SUV and crash it into at least 2 other vehicles and the CTA bus. The rear of the bus was hit by two other vehicles. The collision reportedly involved at least 3 vehicles and the bus.

Three people, including the child, were seriously injured in the crash. They were rushed to area hospitals in serious-to-critical condition. A girl was taken to Children’s Memorial Hospital, while the two others were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center for treatment.

Six others were transported in fair-to-serious condition to local hospitals.

It is unclear if the girl who was taken to Children’s Memorial Hospital was the same teenage girl who stole her brother’s SUV.

Investigations into the crash are underway.
