Mableton, GA — Firefighters were called to a Cobb County daycare after the mother arrived at the daycare to pick up her 8-month-old child and noticed that the daycare was already locked up for the night — with her child still inside. The incident occurred at the River Oaks daycare in the 5400 block of Floyd Road in Mableton, reported WSBTV.
According to police officials, the baby’s mother, Lakristy Rogers, went to go pick up her child when she spotted the owner of the daycare leaving. The mother called 911 and told dispatchers that the daycare building was locked up and her child was still inside.
Firefighters broke into the building and were able to retrieve the baby, who was sleeping inside.
The owner of the daycare, Sue Pierce, was very remorseful over the incident.
The Rogers is going to continue to bring her daughter to the daycare and has called it an “honest mistake from a good woman.”
It was not immediately known if charges would be filed.
