Phoenix, AZ — A two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a dump truck claimed the life of a 30-year-old man on Friday morning, March 25, 2011. The fatal automobile accident occurred on an access road of Interstate 17, just north of Dixileta Drive around 6 a.m. in north Phoenix, reported ABC 15.
According to preliminary accident reports, a Ford F250 pickup truck hauling landscape debris inside of a 20-foot trailer was traveling northbound along the Interstate 17 access road, when he tried making a turn and collided with an Isuzu dump truck that was headed in the opposite direction.
The collision left the driver of the pickup truck with fatal injuries. He was killed in the collision.
A passenger in the pickup truck and the driver of the dump truck both sustained minor injuries. It was not reported if they were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities believe speed was a factor in the fatal collision, but investigations are still ongoing.
The Vehicular Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigations.
