HORRY COUNTY, SC— A two-vehicle crash involving a school bus and car left the driver of the car with injuries and charges relating to the wreck. The automobile accident occurred Friday morning, February 4, 2011 on Highway 544 and the US 17 Bypass, as reported by WMBF.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that the school bus was traveling westbound on the highway, when another car tried to turn from eastbound 544 onto the US 17 Bypass and pulled into the path of the bus. The impact of the crash caused the bus to hit an embankment on Highway 544, under the 17 Bypass overpass.
The driver and one student, who were the only people on board the bus at the time, were uninjured in the wreck. The driver of the sedan was injured and was transported by responding emergency crews to Waccamaw Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the car will be charged for failing to yield.
