Montgomery, IN– A construction accident hospitalized a Montgomery man after he fell 16 feet from a roof. The construction accident occurred around 4:37 p.m. at the Amos Graber residence on CR 675N, as reported by the Washington Times-Herald.
Daviess County Sheriff’s Department reported, Larry Dean Wagler, 19, of Montgomery was installing trusses on a pole building at a residence. While walking from one truss to another, Wagler placed his weight on a 2×4 board with a large knot. The board snapped and Wagler fell 16 feet to the ground.
Wagler was flown by Air Evac to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for treatment of head and back injuries. Wagler was first transported to Daviess Community Hospital by Southwest Medical EMS where the helicopter met the ambulance.
Madison Township and Cannelburg fire departments also responded to the scene.
A full investigation is underway. It was not reported if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will investigate the construction accident.
