Brooklyn, N.Y.– The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and CDX Group Inc. announced a voluntary recall of about 1,600 desk and table lamps over fire and shock hazards. The CPSC announced the recall on December 15, 2010.

The recall was initiated after discovering substandard electrical wiring, connections and plugs in these lamps, posing a fire and shock hazard to consumers.

The CPSC reported, “This recall involves eight different desk and table lamps including item numbers 207, 303, 9774, 1108, 1109, 049-1, 054-8 and 2001-271B. The item numbers are printed on the lamps’ packaging. The product was sold at CDX Group’s showroom, New Chens Discount, Concordia Trading Inc. and Grace Mini Market in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Dollar King in Lexington, Ky. from April 2010 through July 2010 for between $5 and $10.”

Consumers are advised to return the lamps to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.

For further information, consumers can contact CDX Group toll-free at (877) 253-4599 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit their website at www.picture2009.com.
