Los Angeles, CA—About 60 packages of El Guapo Nuez Entera/ Shelled Walnuts have been voluntarily recalled due to salmonella contamination concerns. The walnuts were sold only in southern California, as reported by CNN.
The El Guapo Nuez Entera/ Shelled Walnuts, sold by Mojave Food Corporation were sold in 1-ounce packages, UPC 4498933144, date code 5527. The date code can be found embossed under the package banner on the front side.
At this time no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product.
Mojave Food Corporation says they announced the recall because the walnut supplier alerted them of a salmonella concern.

Symptoms of salmonella infections display symptoms of diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps within a few days of receiving the infection. The illness can last up to a week.
