Howard, WI—A workplace accident at the Hattiesburg Paper Company, killed one worker and left another in critical condition on Thursday, December 2, 2010. The two workers reportedly fell from “scissors” scaffolding at the plant located on Packerland Drive in Howard at around 7 a.m., as reported by Fox11Online.com.

The two Faith Technologies workers reportedly fell 30 feet from “scissors scaffolding,” and became trapped underneath the fallen scaffolding. It is unknown what caused the scaffolding to collapse.

The workers were pulled from underneath the scaffolding and were rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital. Unfortunately, one of the workers died after arriving at the hospital. The other worker is reportedly in critical but stable condition.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers go out to the employees and families affected by this incident,” Faith Technologies and Hattiesburg Paper said in a joint statement. “We continue to cooperate with local police and OSHA in the investigation. We will release further information as it becomes available.”

Investigations are underway.
