Pasco County, FL—An SUV rollover accident claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl and left three others, including two additional children, injured. The fatal single-vehicle accident occurred after one of the SUV’s tires blew out around 6:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, as reported by Tampa Bay Online.
According to information provided, a 25-year-old St. Petersburg woman was operating her 1995 Ford sport utility vehicle in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 when something went wrong.
One of the SUV’s tires blew out in close proximity to State Road 52, causing the vehicle to swerve into the I-75 median and overturn several times.
After the SUV rollover crash occurred, an unrestrained child in the SUV, identified by authorities as Cadence Walters, was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital where her injuries proved fatal.
The driver of the SUV, Kimberly Scarberry, as well as two children, Flynn Carter and Damitri Scarberry, ages 9 and 7 respectively, were also transported to St. Joseph’s.
While the motorist was treated for her injuries and subsequently released, the children were listed in serious condition upon their arrival at the medical center. It was not clear if their conditions had been upgraded.
It was unknown what caused the SUV’s tires to blow out. A full probe into the fatal Pasco County SUV accident is expected to be underway.
