Sturtevant, WI—BRP US Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission voluntarily recalled about 1,000 Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2010. The Wisconsin-based importer initiated the recall upon discovering that the product has the potential to explode, posing a risk of serious injury or death to the consumer.
According to the CPSC news release, “Electrostatic changes can accumulate and spark in the fuel tank when the engine is left idling, posing an explosion hazard that could result in serious injuries or death… The firm has received three reports of explosions, one involving minor burns to face and hands.”
