Chillicothe, OH—A man was charged with aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault, endangering children and tampering with evidence in connection with a Sept. 2009 motor vehicle accident that left him and his then 12-year-old daughter injured. The man was arraigned Tuesday, November 9, 2010 and held on $10,000 bond, according to information provided by the Chillicothe Gazette.

Reports indicated 45-year-old Bona Taylor was operating his Jeep SUV along Bishop Hill Road when it careened off the roadway in close proximity to Grubb Road. The SUV went on to slam into a tree.

Taylor’s daughter was riding in the sport utility vehicle at the time and sustained various injuries, including a ruptured spleen and fractured arm. Both Taylor and his child were airlifted to Columbus-area hospitals via medical helicopter.

According to Assistant Prosecutor Richard Clagg, an Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) trooper who responded to the scene claimed Taylor had bloodshot, glassy eyes after the wreck. Although a blood sample was taken, it was not clear if Taylor was indeed under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when he crashed his car into the tree.

Taylor was accused of stashing away beer cars after the accident, thus inciting the tampering charge. He is expected to appear in court on December 13.
