Augusta, GA—Club Car, LLC, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, voluntarily recalled golf cars and hospitality, utility and transport vehicles due to crash hazards associated with them. The CPSC announced the automotive recall, which affects approximately 5,000 units, on Tuesday, November 9, 2010.

The CPSC news release contended the brake pedals on the golf carts and hospitality, utility and transport vehicles have the potential to crack and separate.

If this occurs, the vehicles operator will lose the ability to brake, leaving riders susceptible to crash-induced injuries.

The Georgia-based manufacturer reportedly received word of two incidents in which the brake pedals broke. Luckily, no injuries were reported in connection with those occurrences.

According to the news release, “The recalled vehicles are Model 2010 DS golf cars and hospitality, utility and transport vehicles used for short-distance transportation. They are various sizes, models and colors. The vehicles can be identified by the serial number, which is above and to the right of the accelerator pedal.”

The recalled golf cars and hospitality, utility and transport vehicles were made available for purchase at authorized Club Car dealers nationwide between July 2010 and April 2010. The vehicles ranged in value from $6,000 and $17,000.

Club Car is informing directly informing consumers that the company will be providing free inspections and replacements of the break pedals affected by the recall.

Consumers with questions or concerns are advised to contact Club Car at (800) 227-0739, ext. 3580 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or online at www.clubcar.com.
