Los Angeles, CA—Sacha Baron Cohen has done it again with the help of his hilarious, and often offensive character, Bruno. A recently filed lawsuit claims Baron Cohen and his crew assaulted a man at a Proposition 8 rally in 2008, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
Mike Skiff filed the lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court, which seeks $25,000 in punitive damages, as well as reimbursement for medical expenses and general damages.
Skiff claims he was assaulted during the Prop 8 rally, when “Bruno” filmmakers “deliberately incited at riot by carrying ‘Yes on Proposition 8’ signs.” The plaintiff claims the crew did this to “enhance the dramatic effect of what they may capture for their film.”
Skiff, who is a gay cameraman and often films gay community events, asserts he was “shoved, pulled and wrestled in a vicious and blatant attempt to keep him from filming the event.” Skiff further asserts that he has the “right to go about his business free from violence and intimidation directed at his sexual orientation.”
