Fort Lauderdale, FL—Three people, including a Local 10 news reporter and photojournalist, were hospitalized Friday, October 15, 2010, as a result of a two-vehicle crash. The injurious collision occurred at the intersection of Sixth Street and Third Avenue in downtown Fort Lauderdale, according to information provided by Just News.

Reports indicated photojournalist David Silver was behind the wheel of a news van and was attempting to make a U-turn on Sixth when he drove into the path of an SUV. The sport utility vehicle slammed into the van’s driver side, causing it to overturn.

Both Silver and Local 10 reporter Niki Mohan suffered injuries in the rollover accident. They were taken to Broward General Hospital for treatment. The unidentified driver of the SUV involved was also hospitalized.

“Immediately, people rushed over to help us, and I’m thankful everyone’s OK… I was on my way to cover a firefighters’ demonstration, and I got my own personal demonstration from the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department,” said Mohan.

“It was very, very scary. I didn’t see it coming. The truck flipped. I immediately just looked to David and just looked to see if he was OK… They had to cut us out through the windshield,” Mohan explained.

None of the victims’ injuries were described as life threatening. Police reportedly cited Silver in connection with the rollover accident.
