Topeka, KS—The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) is investing a two-vehicle collision along K-4, which left one person dead and others injured. The fatal collision occurred at mile marker 336, near N.W. 27th at around 6:50 p.m., as reported by the Topeka Capital-Journal.
Troopers reported that a black Chevrolet was traveling southbound on K-4, when it veered into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons. The driver overcorrected the vehicle, which caused it to slam into a white Ford pickup truck that was traveling northbound on K-4.
The Chevrolet finally came to a stop against a guardrail on the west side of K-4.
Three people inside the Chevrolet were rushed by responding American Medical response ambulance to a Topeka hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A fourth person inside the Chevrolet tragically died before the victim could be removed from the wreckage.
The identity of the victims is currently being withheld.
The driver of the Ford was uninjured in the wreck.
A full investigation is underway.
