Provo, UT– A SUV rollover killed three people, including a man and two young girls, on Interstate 15 on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. The fatal wreck occurred near the Utah County town of Santaquin at around 1:25 a.m., as reported by the Salt Lake Tribune.
The Utah Highway Patrol reported that a northbound SUV swerved form the inside right lane, before overcorrecting, causing the SUV to spin into the highway median. The SUV then began to roll through the median and into the southbound lanes, where it landed on a frontage road.
Three people, a man and two girls, ages 4 and 11, were tragically killed in the wreck. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other occupants of the vehicle were injured. A female passenger was rushed to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo for treatment. She is reportedly in critical condition. The two other passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. It was not reported if they were transported to the hospital as well.
A full investigation is underway.
