Oklahoma City Crash: Officer, Motorist Involved in 2-Vehicle Crash; 1 Dead

Oklahoma City, OK—A two-vehicle accident involving an Oklahoma City police officer who was responding to an emergency call left a motorist dead on Thursday, July 29, 2010. The fatal accident occurred around 5:30 a.m., in the intersection of SW 29 and S. Indiana Avenue, as reported by NewsOk.com.

According to officials, an Oklahoma City police officer was traveling east on SW 29, when another motorist drove into the path of the police cruiser on S. Indiana Avenue, causing the officer’s car to hit the driver’s side of the other vehicle. The collision killed the civilian motorist.

The Oklahoma City police officer was reportedly responding to a larceny call when the collision occurred. Officials are unsure how fast the officer was traveling. His lights and sirens were not activated at the time.

Police officials are currently trying to determine what exactly happened.

The identity of the victim and the officer is currently being withheld.
