Fort Myers, FL—A concrete worker was tragically killed after falling into an auger on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. The worker was involved in a pool construction project at a home in the Belle Lago community in San Carlos Park of Estero Parkway, reports the New-Press.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the worker was at a residential property, located at 19341 La Serena Drive, constructing a pool, when he somehow fell into an auger. Officials say his death appears to be a tragic accident. Injuries to the man’s legs reportedly led to his untimely death.

Police are currently withholding the identity of the worker at this time, due to proper notification to the deceased’s family.

Wikipedia stated an auger is a device, which is used for moving solid or liquid materials by means of a rotating helical flighting.

Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to arrive at the scene to conduct a full investigation into the fatal construction accident.
