Suffolk, VA—A gun was found on the property of a Suffolk church by a 3-year-old on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Police officials believe the gun may be tied to a botched Tuesday night robbery, as reported by WAVY.
Thankfully, the 3-year-old’s teacher saw the child with the gun and promptly took it away before anyone was hurt.
Two teenagers, ages 13 and 14, were arrested and admitted to police officers that they were trying to rob a woman in a Wachovia bank parking lot at North Main and Saratoga Streets. The woman, who the teens were trying to rob, saw them wearing bandannas and hiding in the bushes. She immediately called police instead of getting out of her car.
After a short foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspects, where they found a 9mm handgun and a bandanna close by.
Investigators believe a third suspect may have thrown the gun on the Suffolk Church property, which is a few hundred feet from the bank.
The two suspects are currently being detained at Chesapeake Juvenile Intake.
If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the third suspects, please call the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-UP.
