Los Angeles, CA– A Los Angeles police chase resulted in the death of an innocent 6-year-old girl, after the fleeing car struck her on the sidewalk and then pinned her against a wall. The police chase began at 6: 22 p.m. on June 10, 2010, as reported by MSNBC.
Officials reported that the chase began after the officers witnessed a drug deal in the Lakeview Terrace area. A chase ensued, which at one point prompted a suspected to toss out a gun out of the window of the fleeing vehicle.
The suspect then lost control of the car, causing it to hit a 6-year-old girl who was on the sidewalk. The car then pinned the little girl against a stone wall of a home at Fenton Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard.
Emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed the girl to an area hospital where her injuries proved fatal.
Police officials reported the suspect’s car hit the girl with so much force that it deployed the airbags on impact. The two suspects inside the vehicle were arrested at the scene.
Officials are withholding the identities of the suspects and the girl at this time. A full investigation is underway.
