Los Angeles, CA—A motorcyclist is dead after he crashed along the Santa Ana (5) Freeway and was run over by at least three vehicles. The biker crashed Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 4:25 a.m., just north of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk, as reported by The Contra Costa Times.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 39-year-old Kenneth Stovall, of Los Angeles was traveling at “a high rate of speed” on his 2004 Honda motorcycle in the northbound lanes of the freeway when he crashed into the center divider. The rider was ejected from his motorcycle and was thrown into the southbound lanes, where at least three other vehicles ran him over.
Responding rescue teams pronounced Stovall dead at the scene.
As a result of the wreck, the southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down. While the roadway was closed, another accident occurred when a semi-truck rear-ended a stopped vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the second wreck.
A full investigation into the motorcycle wreck is underway.
