Cincinnati, OH—A 9-year-old boy is in intensive care in a medically induced coma after two dogs viciously attacked the boy, shredding his leg and face. The boy was reportedly attacked while his parents were house sitting over the weekend at a Miami Township home, as reported by WLWT.
Mason McNary, 9, was attacked by two American bulldogs, which he reportedly knew since they were pups and frequently played with because they were “very mellow.” Mason’s father, Kyle McNary said he “immediately ran to the backyard an pulled the dogs back.” But the boy already suffered serious injuries. Mason’s parents said his ear was ripped off and his neck and back are covered with deep bite wounds. Most of his muscles in the left leg were shredded in the attack, according to doctors.
Kyle McNary, a former law enforcement officer, performed basic first aid and comforted his son until paramedics arrived at the scene. Mason was rushed to the Children’s Hospital and was placed in a medically induced coma.
Mason will have to endure several reconstructive and plastic surgeries, including physical therapy.
It was not reported if the dogs were taken into custody following the attack.
