Spokane, WA—Five students were transported to the hospital after their Central Valley School District bus was involved in a collision on Wednesday afternoon, April 14, 2010. The school bus reportedly just left Broadway Elementary School, when the bus and another car collided at the Broadway Avenue and Bowdish Road around 3:25 p.m., as reported by the Spokesman-Review.

According to school officials, the school bus was stopped at a red traffic light, when two cars, which were headed southbound and northbound, collided in the intersection. Five students on the bus and the bus driver were rushed by responding emergency crews to a Spokane Valley hospital for treatment of “minor” injuries. It was not disclosed what types of injuries the children sustained. Numerous other students were evaluated by responding paramedics at the scene and were released to their parents. The remaining uninjured students were taken home by another bus.
