Los Angeles, CA—An up-and-coming stuntwoman was tragically killed while driving to a set in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. The woman was riding her motorcycle west on the 1010 Freeway near Laurel Canyon Boulevard exit around 7:40 a.m., when she attempted to pass a tow truck, as reported by The Los Angeles Time.

April Erin Stirton, 28, of North Hollywood, was reportedly traveling at 55 mph when she lost control of her bike as she was passing a tow truck in the same lane, causing her to fall off the bike. Upon falling from the motorcycle, Stirton was struck by the rear wheels of the tow truck. Her injuries proved fatal at the scene where responding emergency medical crews pronounced her dead. No other injuries were reported. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the motorcycle then slid across two lanes of traffic and became stuck under the rear wheels of another truck. A full investigation is currently underway.

Stirton reportedly owns a stunt service agency. She is notably known for her work as a stunt double on TV shows like “True Blood” and “CSI”, including acrobatics in live shows.
