A Kansas City Police officer was injured after a drunk driver hit him during a traffic stop.

Kansas City, MO—A drunken driver who tried to pass an officer who was making a traffic stop, left the Kansas City police officer the injured. The collision occurred around 3:30 a.m., on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 8300 Troost Avenue, as reported by KMBC.

The Kansas City police officer reportedly pulled over a Cadillac, when a drunken woman who was traveling south on Troost Ave. veered into the grass in an attempt to pass the police vehicle and the Cadillac. The woman slammed into the rear of the police vehicle, which propelled the car into the back of the Cadillac. The impact spun her car around and threw her into a light pole. The officer sustained bruising when the drunk driver struck the Cadillac, throwing him 10-feet into the roadway. The woman was apprehended and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). The man driving the Cadillac was also stopped for suspicion of DUI. Neither the woman nor the driver of the Cadillac was injured in the collision. It was not reported if the Cadillac driver was arrested for a DUI as well. A full investigation into the wreck is currently underway. Charges are pending.
