Gadsden County, FL (News)—A high school junior who was transported to a hospital in critical condition following a Monday morning school bus crash suffered severe injuries, which proved fatal on Tuesday evening, March 9, 2010, a day after the horrifying incident. The motor vehicle collision (MVC), which involved a Gadsden County school bus and a tree, left two others in critical condition and several others injured, according to information provided by Tallahassee.com and previous news coverage by Justice News Flash.
Lt. Jim Corder, Gadsden County Sheriff’s spokesperson allegedly reported that, De’Sherrime Murray, a junior who attended West Gadsden High School, was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after suffered traumatic injuries in the bus crash. Murray was reportedly ejected from the school bus upon impact of the tree and was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) in critical condition, along with the bus driver and another student. Though the exact number of students treated for injuries after the crash was unknown, six were seemingly transported from the accident scene to TMH for treatment.
FCAT testing was postponed until Thursday as a means of letting students and faculty settle down after the tragic incident and councilors were on-hand at the school for those in need. Investigations continue.
