Product liability lawyer alerts- FDA announced product recall of seafood sauce due to potential health risk.

Rochester, NY (News)—Ed. Roller, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov, has participated in the voluntary recall of 9 oz. Wegmans Food You Feel Good About® Medium Seafood Sauce due to undeclared soy and anchovies. The FDA announced the product recall on Friday, March 5, 2010.

The product recall included all 9-ounce jars of seafood sauce with sell-by dates on and before April 21. The sell-by date can be located on the label. Wegmans Food You Feel Good About® Medium Seafood Sauce was sold in clear glass jars with a white screw top with the UPC # 77890 84032. The sauce was sold in a total of 75 Wegmans Food Markets located throughout New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.

Rochester-based Ed. Roller Inc. recalled the product after the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets discovered that soy and anchovies were not listed on the product labeling, posing an allergy threat to certain consumers. Though no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product, according to the FDA, “People who have allergies to soy or anchovies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.” Production has been suspended pending labeling changes. Consumers with allergies or food sensitivities to soy or anchovies may return recalled jars of seafood sauce to Wegmans for a full reimbursement. Wegmans may also be contacted at (800) 934-6267, ext. 4760 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, in regards to the product recall.
