Criminal attorneys alert- A California man walked up to the Pentagon and began shooting, injuring two police officers.

Washington, DC- A deranged California man who tried to enter the Pentagon by force, ended with a gun battle between two police officers and the man, which left the man dead and the officers wounded. The shooter walked up to the Pentagon with two 9 mm semi automatic weapons and numerous magazines around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010, just yards from the Defense Department entrance, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The shooter, John Patrick Bedell, 36, reportedly walked up to the pentagon and pulled out at least one gun and began unloading rounds of ammunition, which wounded two police officers. The officers were apparently only slightly injured and were rushed to an area hospital for treatment, and were later released. It has yet to be determined why Bedell drove all the way to Washington, D.C. from California and began shooting. Officials found Bedell’s car and discovered more ammunition inside of it. The chief of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency reported, “There is no indication at this point there are any domestic or international terror nexus at all.” Police officials are currently investigating the incident. Bedell died on Friday, March 5, 2010 due to his severe wounds.
