Product liability attorney alerts- Peachtree Playthings recalled product for choking hazard, CPSC announced.

Atlanta, GA (News)—Peachtree Playthings has participated in the voluntary recall of Scooby Doo, Tweety, and Batman Fork and Spoon Sets due to the choking danger children face when using them. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov announced the recall on Tuesday, March 2, 2010.

Approximately 127,000 fork and spoon sets have been recalled due to reports stating, “The middle two prongs of the plastic fork can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.” Though no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, Peachtree Playthings, of Atlanta, Georgia, allegedly received one complaint of the middle prong separating from the fork.

The fork and spoon two-piece sets are made of white plastic and have Scooby Doo, Tweety and Batman characters printed on the handles. The cartoons printed on the handles seemingly make them appealing, yet potentially hazardous to children. The sets were manufactured in China and sold in Dollar Tree or Deals retail locations for approximately $1 each.

Consumers have been urged to stop letting children use the recalled fork and spoon sets, and return them to their place of purchase for a full reimbursement. Peachtree Playthings may be contacted by phone at (800) 290-4831 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET or online at www.peachtreeplaythings.com.
