California Highway Patrol alert- a fatal crash involving a Chevy Blazer and a bicyclist occurred in Los Gatos, CA.
San Francisco Bay, CA—A Chevrolet sport utility vehicle (SUV) struck and killed a bicyclist in Los Gatos on Monday, February 1, 2010. The fatal crash occurred around 8:50 a.m., on Lark Avenue at Garden Hill Drive, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police reported they were on their way to an injury collision call at Lark Avenue at Garden Hill Drive, when they received a second call stating that a Chevy Blazer SUV had hit a bicyclist and had overturned. By the time police officers arrived at the scene, witnesses had already begun performing CPR on the bicyclist. The police officials continued CPR until paramedics arrived at the scene. The unidentified bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The SUV driver was rushed to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment. The extent of the SUV driver’s injuries was unknown. The deceased bicyclist was not carrying any form of identification on him at the time of the accident; police officials are still trying to determine his identity. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the fatal crash. It is unknown if the driver of the SUV has been cited for the accident.
