California Highway Patrol alert- One person is dead after an 18-wheeler crash in Bakersfield, CA.

Bakersfield, CA—A two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck and a box truck on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 left one of the drivers dead. The fatal crash occurred around 7:15 a.m., at the intersection of Pond Road and Highway 43, as reported by TurnTo23.com.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a semi-truck was traveling westbound on Pond Road when the rig had stopped at the intersection of Pond Road and Highway 43 to make a left turn, but wasn’t able to make the turn and became stuck. A box truck, which was traveling northbound on Highway 43, wasn’t able to stop in time, and slammed into the semi. The driver of the box truck died from his fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi was able to walk away from the accident unharmed. The CHP is trying to determine how fast the box truck was traveling at the time of the wreck. Weather was not ruled as the cause of the accident, even though it was foggy at the time. The CHP is currently conducting a full investigation into the crash. It was not reported if anyone received a citation for the accident.
