California Highway Patrol alerts California automobile accident attorneys- A fatal crash occurred on Route 67.

San Diego, CA—A wrong-way driver caused a fatal head-on crash on the two-lane stretch of State Route 67. The fatal wreck occurred on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 around 2:30 p.m., about two miles north of Willow Road, as reported by SignOnSanDiego.com.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a white Chevrolet Astro van was headed south on State Route 67, when a northbound maroon Oldsmobile 98 that was traveling in the southbound lanes slammed head-on into the van. The driver of the van, identified only as a 36-year-old Julian woman, was pronounced dead by responding emergency crews at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Oldsmobile, John Hallaway, 51, of Los Vegas, sustained serious injuries in the wreck, and was transported by helicopter to a trauma center for treatment of his major injuries.

According to witnesses, the northbound Oldsmobile veered over the double yellow-line into the southbound lanes for about a quarter mile before colliding with the van. Numerous other drivers were reportedly able to swerve out of the way before the wreck. After the impact, the van careened off the side of the road and came to a stop in a muddy embankment. The Oldsmobile spun-out 180 degrees after coming into contact with the van. Drugs and/or alcohol, along with speeding do not appear to be factors. The CHP is currently investigating the fatal crash.
