Five people taken to hospital for minor injuries after a Jackson, Mississippi four-vehicle crash.

Jackson, MS—Five people, including a pregnant woman, were hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a four-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, January 14, 2010. The motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred on Hollywood Drive in Jackson, Mississippi, according to information provided by the JacksonSun.com.

It was reported that a white van was traveling southbound on Hollywood Drive, when it struck the rear of a stopped black sedan for unknown reasons. The initial impact seemingly caused a chain-reaction crash when the sedan struck a white SUV, which consequently hit a red sedan. Police officials did not immediately release the identities of those involved in the motor vehicle accident. The incident allegedly occurred north of North Parkway.

Officials from the Jackson Police Department were allegedly dispatched to the crash site on Hollywood drive at 4:19 p.m., during rush hour, along with emergency medical services (EMS) personnel. A pregnant woman that was traveling in the black sedan reportedly had to be extricated from the vehicle by responding medical professionals. She also allegedly claimed that she was going into labor, though police deputies later reported that though she was in some degree of pain, she did not go into labor after the incident. The driver of the white SUV, identified as 20-year-old DaQuita Travis, said that a passenger riding in her vehicle allegedly struck her head on the dashboard upon impact. The passenger and her 1-year-old son were allegedly taken to the emergency room as a safety precaution. All injuries sustained in the chain-reaction wreck were reported to be non-life threatening. The crash scene was reportedly cleared by 6 p.m. and citations were pending further investigation.
