FHP investigates SUV rollover on Interstate 95 that left 1 dead, 1 in critical condition.

Daytona Beach, FL—An SUV rollover accident on Interstate 95 killed one man Sunday, December 13, 2009, according to details provided by the Orlando Sentinel. The automobile accident occurred on I-95 at State Road 421 in Volusia County. The driver of the Chevrolet SUV was allegedly in the passing lane, heading north on I-95 around 3:16 p.m., when he began to leave the roadway for unknown reasons. The Chevrolet veered across the left shoulder of the interstate after leaving the main road and over-corrected back into I-95 northbound lanes. Subsequently, the SUV flipped twice, ejecting the driver as well as one other passenger in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.

The 23-year-old passenger from Walstonburg, North Carolina, was tragically killed after being ejected from the vehicle as it overturned. The 38-year-old Chevrolet driver, a man from South Bay, Florida, was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach to be treated by doctors and nurses for the serious injuries he acquired in the rollover. It was reported that the driver is currently in critical condition. FHP officers have not released the names of the two individuals involved in the SUV crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
