Terre Haute, IN—Two people were injured in a multiple vehicle pile-up along Indiana 63, when a semi-truck was unable to stop for slowed traffic. The major collision occurred on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, 2009, around 4:00 p.m., about three miles southeast of Covington near Perrysville, as reported by JCOnline.com.

According to police officials, a semi-truck driven by Nenad Knezevic, 29, of Lyons, Illinois, was traveling northbound on Indiana 63 when he approached slowed traffic. The big rig was unable to stop in time, when he struck a North Vermillion County School Corporation school bus, which was driven by Don Morgan, 52, of Cayuga. Thankfully, there were no students aboard the bus when the collision occurred. The impact of the crash pushed the bus off the roadway, and into a ditch alongside the east side of the road. The semi barreled on and hit a 2003 Chevy Malibu in the passing lane, which was driven by Benjamin Lange, 19, of West Lafayette. The Malibu was pushed into the median of the road. Then the 18-wheeler struck the trailer of another big rig, driven by Jeff Frazier, 45, of Westville, Illinois, before coming to a stop. Both Knezevic and Morgan were transported by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to Danville, Illinois hospital for treatment. Knezevic was then flown to the Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, Illinois, where he is currently listed in critical condition at this time. Lange and Frazier refused any medical treatment at scene of the wreck by EMS crews. Police officials issued Knezevic a citation for speeding and neglecting to wear a seatbelt. An investigation is underway.
