London, KY—An SUV veered into oncoming traffic and hit a loaded school bus on its way to practice for a chorale performance. Ten students and the bus driver were rushed to the hospital on Thursday, November 12, 2009, in southern Laurel County, as reported by Kentucky.com.

A school bus was transporting 14 students and a teacher from Hunter Hills Elementary to Corinth Baptist Church to practice for an upcoming chorale performance when the collision occurred. An oncoming Ford Explorer crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and slammed into the school bus. The bus driver and eight students were rushed by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to London Hospital for treatment by doctors and nurses. Two additional students were later taken to a Corbin area hospital for treatment. The rest of the students were taken back to school by another vehicle. Police officials reported the bus driver tried to avoid the crash to the best of their ability.

The unidentified driver of the Ford SUV suffered serious injuries and was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. Police officials are investigating the wreck. At this time no one has been charged in connection with the crash.
